Volunteer, Waltham Abbey

Lovely little pub, eaten here a few times and the food is always really tasty and the staff are agreeable. Big thumbs up.

The Bakers Arms, Waltham Abbey

Whole-heartedly agree with the last poster's comments. Lovely-looking pub but staff are utterly disinterested and the food is inedible. Complained about the food once - the highlight being a mouldy lemon served with a salmon fillet that we didn't even order - and the manager didn't even bother coming to speak to us. Worst meal I've ever had in my life, McDonalds does better food.

The Huntsman Inn, Bath

Not the fanciest pub in the world - maybe time for a new carpet - but friendly staff, prices OK for Bath centre, nice pint of Ugly Sisters and best of all THE BEST burger anywhere, ever! 6 of these points are for the burger alone .

The Red Lion, Soho

This pub is very cheap... and there's a good reason why. Dark, dingy and the beer is flat and flavourless, plus more than two pints of the Alpine and all but the strongest stomachs will be feeling sick. (Trust me, I know!) If you feel like a quiet game of darts, avoid on a Thursday when it has become inexplicably busy in the evenings, and stick to the traditional lemonades.

The Pickhurst Tavern, West Wickham

I was really hungry when we saw the Pickhurst, and excited about the seafood platter. The decor is lovely but this doesn't carry over to the restuarant - we waited 40 minutes for our food and it arrived cold and oily, as if it had been fried twice in stale oil. Totally inedible. The manager was delightful and refunded our money but she was clearly struggling against the kitchen - we noticed 2 other equally unhappy tables as we waited for our "meal". Nice surroundings but only eat crisps!
