The George and Vulture, Hoxton

Was there back in April - wasn't a huge fan of the decor but excellently kept real ales and friendly barstaff more than made up for it.

The Greyhound Inn, Longford

I have to admit, I'm also a little baffled by Skyblues comments. If you think the staff and service are so bad then why were you a regular there?
Anyhow, I personally love this place - good beer and food in a fantastic location.

The Merchants Inn, Rugby

This is a top notch pub, Ive never seen the beer in anything less than top notch condition and the staff have always been great with me (And I include the times where I've been absolutely hammered. My only minor complaint is that they serve Tiger, which I can't stand. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to drink one of the other five ales on offer....

The Whitefriars Olde Ale House, Coventry

As an addition to my earlier comments I'd like to make absolutely crystal clear the crap owners that Geoff and Ted talked about are NO LONGER THERE!!! I know this for certain because Geoff and Ted are my two best friends and the guys who've just bought Whitefriars (At the start of February 2005)are also pretty good friends.

The Beer Engine, Coventry

This is a great pub, good staff, great beer (Off the top of my head there are four revolving guests and Black Sheep as a resident and Hoegarden on tap,) and live bands every Saturday night, but these aren't your average city centre bands, the guys the Beer Engine get CAN ACTUALLY PLAY!!! Coupled with the afforementioned beer it's a great place to spend your Saturday night, in fact, if you go there, you'll probably see me there, but don't ask for me 'cause I'll think you're a loon.

The Whitefriars Olde Ale House, Coventry

McNaughty is entirely correct, Whitefriars has new owners as of about two weeks ago, I know this because I work for some of them at their other pub so you can take my slightly prejudiced comments as you wish.

Bottom line is that it's a great pub that's become a little bit rundown. In just two weeks the place has already changed beyond recognition. You'll be amazed at how much difference little things like cleaning the floors, replacing the blown out lightbulbs and perhaps most importantly (And I'm going to use capitals for emphasis)CLEANING THE BEERLINES can make. Trust me, it's worth your time, and while you're at it, go to the pub that I actually work at (You'll help pay my wages), the Greyhound Inn at Sutton Stop.
