Very friendly and historic canalside pub with a good selection of real ale including Highgate Dark Mild,London Pride ,Ped and on my visit a golden ale from Sadlers which went down a treat.Attractive interior with a lounge now given over to diners and a bar which wraps around a central serving area.Good views over Hawkesbury Junction where boats make the tricky turn from the Coventry Canal to the stop lock at the start of the Oxford Canal.Much chortling if a boater cocks it up.Food looked good with a large variety but didnt try it due to concentration on a liquid lunch.

After last years complaint about Courage Best, they decided to make amends by holding the beer festival on the same weekend as Bristol City played Coventry. The beer festival was in the outdoor area at the rear, with about 12 beers, plus a few more inside. Between us we tried 7, and all were good. Nice to find proper perry (Pear cider for the uninitiated), and of the beers, the Snake Oil was my favourite. A great setting, friendly helpful staff, in fact perfect. My friends praised the food, but I was a bit too busy sampling to order any!
I hope the rest of the festival went well.

Nice pub, great location, and reasonably handy for the Ricoh. The beers (Tiger and Highgate Mild) was excellent, although having Courage Directors as a guest seems a waste of a pump. Sandwiches and baguettes were excellent for quality and value. It was very pleasant sat in the water-side garden on a (rare) warm day for a pre-match beer, and a 3-0 win made the day even better. One small gripe, what is the point of banning smoking on a paved patio?

Visited in October 2007 while on a cycling trip around Coventry. Wonderful interior, staff were very friendly and although slightly on the pricy side the food was superb (Salmon tagliatelle). Good range of beers, and overall a very welcoming pub to end up in following a long cycle ride on a cold autumn evening. Worth making the effort to find this pub.
