The Black Lion, Kilburn

Has to be the best pub on Kilburn High Road by far

Duke of York, Whitby

One of our favourite pubs in Whitby. Best during the day when not too busy, as you can peacefully while away the afternoon at one of the lovely window seats overlooking the harbour.

The Golden Ball, Scarborough

Lovely pub, easily the best on the seafront by far. We always visit it when in the town. Great drinks, great prices, very welcoming. Highly recommended

The Endeavour, Whitby

Great little pub just slightly off the beaten track of Church Street etc. Very welcoming. Highly recommended

The Barge Inn, Woolstone

Good pub with good, reasonably priced food. Very welcoming to non regulars too.

The Castlefields, Castleford

Used to be my local when i lived in Cas, back in the says when it was a Jazz bar. It is a bit more modern and rowdy now, but i still have a soft spot for this place. Worth a visit on your way into town, but beware, you may never make it into town as you would be just as well to stay here.

The Navigation, Stoke Bruerne

The lesser of the two pubs in Stoke Bruerne. On my first visit, i recall having to wait about 20mins just to be served for drinks. Subsequent times have seen food take 40 mins (for a starter) and the quality was not great either. Tends to get all the day trippers. Worth a visit, but perhaps only once.

The Boat Inn, Stoke Bruerne

The better of the two pubs in Stoke Bruerne by far. Manages to mix a good canal side local boozer feel with that of a touristy, restauranty feel. Highly recommended, - an ideal place to end a days navigation on the Grand Union

Red Lion, Marsworth

A perfect village pub. Don't bother with the pubs on the main road in Marsworth, walk 5 mins up the canal and go to the Red Lion. I always stop off here when cycling up and down the canal, and i cannot fault it. Picturesque road, lovely pub, highly recommended

The Travellers Rest, Dunstable

Great pub/restaurant. Have eaten here a few times, and although a chain (check out the Flying Fox on the A5) this pub is superior by far to its brothers and sisters. Great food, friendly staff, and loveley decor inside. Highly recommended

The Flying Fox, Milton Keynes

Been here for lunch a few times. OK, so it caters for the A5 trade, so quality of food has been mixed, but at all times well above average. Would recommend it, even if just to break up that A5 trawl

The George Inn, Little Brickhill

I have only been to this pub once towards the end of last year, but i and my friends were very impressed and really must make the effort to go more often. Friendly staff, great food, and excellent decor - check out the conservatory at the back. We went on a Pizza night, and they were excellent. Highly recommended.

The Old Red Lion, Great Brickhill

Perfect pub for the summertime. Not much space inside unless you are eating., and on one or two occasions bar service has been slow, but friendly nonetheless. Locals like to esconce themselves on the bar stools and seem to get preferential treatment when their pints are low. The beer garden at the back has a great view. On the whole, a good village pub. Highly recommended.

The Three Locks, Stoke Hammond

The pub is currently a building site, and looks like it might be for another few months yet. It has been bought by Scottish and Newcastle pub enterprises, so hopefully when it returns it will be clean and tidy with a good range of drink and food. I will most certainly be down there when it reopens.

The Royal George, Euston

A decent pub to have a few beers in before commuting home. Firendly bar staff help.

17 Feb 2009 17:16

The Exmouth Arms, Euston

A decent locals and commuters pub. Take heed of other posters though - your clothes will stink of chip fat for days after spending an hour in here. If only they could sort this out, this would be an excellent pub.

The Grove Lock, Grove

Same old story - nice location but could do a lot better. My experience of the food has been OK if a little expensive. Also have a good range of lagers, including Peroni. A great pub for sitting outdoors in the summer months.

The Globe Inn, Linslade

Good food and excellent location. Could be a really good pub, but the staff and service lets it down - too slow and with attitude.

17 Feb 2009 17:06

The Golden Bell, Leighton Buzzard

Quite a rough clientele here, who all seem to be pi55ed by 11.30am. Not the best in LB, but not the worst either.

17 Feb 2009 17:01

The Great Western, Paddington

A good little old fashioned pub, with friendly staff and good selection of ales. Very small and cosy.

17 Feb 2009 16:58

The Three Locks, Stoke Hammond

I like this pub. OK, so it's no gastropub and a bit grubby, but i find it friendly and relaxing. Its in an excellent location too.

The good news is that it is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment. I can't wait to see what its like when it reopens.
