Met an old friend for weekday lunch here about two weeks ago. We'd just had the tail end of that storm that hit Europe hard and so the water level was pretty high but the car park was still negotiable - or should that read navigable!
Sat overlooking the water with the sun streaming in the window. Food was good, beer was good, service was good. Having first visited this building in the 1960's (as a child) when Mrs. Bentley lived here it is good to see that it is still somewhere worth going to.

The Inn On The Lake, Godalming
Ate here last Friday. It is now a sister pub to the excellent Seahorse in Shalford. Our meal was very good. Three of us ordered ribeye steak. Very friendly waiter returned to say that they had run out but that we could have fillet if we wanted for the same price. We did and it was excellent. Wine good and reasonable price for a nice organic rioja.
Place was heaving. Glad we booked a table. It is my preferred eating place in Godalming.

The Winterton Arms, Chiddingfold
Now under new management (again) and shows great promise. We've eaten there twice in the few weeks since they took over and the food is good quality for a very reasonable price. The steaks are the best I've eaten in a long time. This is not a chic gastro pub, but their food (and beer) is far better than most.

Thankfully this place has now been closed down after the last tenants went bust. Hopefully it'll re-open under new management in due course. Whoever they turn out to be they can't do a worse job than the last lot.

The Noahs Ark Inn, Lurgashall
I have been going to this pub since moving to Chiddingfold 15 years ago. Under current owners it is the best it has ever been. Proper pub. Proper food. Proper beer. I love it.
