The Yard, Newmarket

Superb pub, came joint top on our crawl even though its another Greene King pub. Lovely pint of Ruddles, good choice of lager and the best pint of Guinness all day. Its lucky we didnt hit this place first, we may not have left.

The Temple Bar, Newmarket

Now called something else but cant remember what. It was a bit dark in there but more than served its purpose. beer ok, staff ok, think its a club after dark.

The Horseshoes, Newmarket

Happy pub full of stable lads. choice of beer wasnt great but can imagine on a race day it would be a good crack. scored well.

The Orange House, Newmarket

Now called millionaires which is blatently false advertising. Full of desperados drinking carlsberg at 2 a pint. Felt a bit like a working mens club.

White Lion, Newmarket

Another Greene King pub, caught this at lunchtime which was a blessing, if you go there have a pie. Would go back for the grub. scored high on the day.

The Five Bells, Newmarket

NASTY. we were warned about this one by another pub, apparently yhere have been stabbings, underage boxing and regular strippers. it certainly lived up to its reputation. If you are planning a crawl miss this one out.

The White Hart Hotel, Newmarket

On a Saturday pub crawl this is not the place to be at lunchtime. Too many people with kids. We were hoping for lunch but the service for a drink was so slow we didnt fancy our chances. the best choice of drinks anywhere in Newmarket but 4.00 for a pint of Peroni is a bit steep. Reckon if we had finished in this pub it would have been full of clubbers. A respectable 7.

The Bushel Inn, Newmarket

Another Greene King pub. they have a stranglehold on Newmarket. This one is slightly strange as its an old pub (with geriatric drinkers) in a modern shopping centre, the downside of this is the lack of outside space for a smoke. But nice friendly staff & good beer. A collective 6.5

The Waggon and Horses, Newmarket

A good pub. good selection of lager but a bit short of real beer, it makes up for this with near perfect guinness. Only racing on the TVs though. came joint top with The Yard Pub.

The Golden Lion, Newmarket

Its a wetherspoons. we would have left it out of the crawl because of that but went in anyway. beer ok but service and customer base nasty. only 4/10 im afraid.
