The Royal Oak, Bowness on Windermere

Apart from the artex and a slightly odd smell, I really liked it here. Six beers in good condition, 3 locals plus Landlord, Tetleys and another, all around 3. Friendly, open fire, hearty, averagely priced food. One of the best in Bowness.

The Angel Inn, Bowness on Windermere

Had drinks only. Two good real ales on offer, Hawkshead H-ale-o (brewed specially for the Angel) and Coniston Bluebird. Both in good condition. Wide range of wines and some decent lagers.
Has numerous rooms: restaurant, lounge and bar. You can eat anywhere but only diners are allowed in the restaurant. Nice open fire. Chilled out atmosphere and prices seemed average for the area. Would recommend and go again.

Crosshills Social Club, Crosshills

No real ale.

Otherwise cheap and friendly.

The Old White Bear, Crosshills

Difficult to find anything to fault at the "laugher" (as it seems to be known locally).

Good real ales, all from Naylors, at low prices.
Friendly atmosphere and staff in traditional, comfortable surroundings (not dingy).
Darts and 'ring the bull' available in the tap room.
Good home made food at great prices.

Erm..... trying to think of a way to improve the place.... erm..... introduce a range of 150 Belgian bottled trappist ales? erm..... give away free money at the bar?

The Kings Arms, Sutton in Craven

Limited real ale selection (only one; Black Sheep bitter), but well kept. Consistently the best drinkers pub in Sutton, with the current Landlord and lady having been there for about 17 years.
Traditional multi-roomed layout encouraging a friendly social atmosphere, with pool and darts if you're feeling sporty.
