I have been in the Angel a couple of times and have been pleasantly surprised. It may look a little pretentious from the outside, but nicely decorated and laid out inside with a large conservatory with stone floors, comfy sofas and a large table. Despite other's comments I didn't think it was particularly expensive. Always a couple of well kept beers on, Cocker-hoop and Coniston Bluebird last time I was in. I haven't tried the food though, but will. it seems to effectively tread the line between being a pretentious "southerner's pub" and a place for locals. Worth a visit.

Overpriced. Had a lineup of three cask ales on, including Hawkshead Lakeland Gold, Bluebird Bitter and Cumberland Ale.

Nice interior, but not cheap

Nice beer and food, but a sterile interior.

Had drinks only. Two good real ales on offer, Hawkshead H-ale-o (brewed specially for the Angel) and Coniston Bluebird. Both in good condition. Wide range of wines and some decent lagers.
Has numerous rooms: restaurant, lounge and bar. You can eat anywhere but only diners are allowed in the restaurant. Nice open fire. Chilled out atmosphere and prices seemed average for the area. Would recommend and go again.
