Remains an excellent pub. Had a lineup of six cask ales, and I can vouch for a good Bluebird Bitter. Also on were Tetley, Pedigree, Cumberland Ale, Cocker Hoop and Landlord. Food was excellent for hungry hikers. dynamiteninja - 2 Sep 2011 17:02
We arrived in Bowness and decided to look for some decent pub grub. This pub had lots of customers, inside and out and looked like a good bet. We were served by a friendly young lady, who was extremely busy, but was very smiley and professional. We decided to have our meals indoors, as the heat was overpowering hubby. It is a very family-friendly pub, with lots of toys and games provided to keep little ones busy, however, it could do with a refurb in places, some of the decor was rather tired and scruffy. Our meals arrived promptly, hubby was delighted with his Mixed Grill, however, the quiche I had ordered was nothing short of disgusting. Perhaps I had just picked the wrong item from the menu that particular day, but we did not return. gabbyannie - 2 Aug 2011 20:09
Enjoyed this one for its good beer and service. AndrewW - 11 Apr 2011 13:27
Apart from the artex and a slightly odd smell, I really liked it here. Six beers in good condition, 3 locals plus Landlord, Tetleys and another, all around £3. Friendly, open fire, hearty, averagely priced food. One of the best in Bowness. croiz - 27 Nov 2010 12:14
