The Birds Nest, Deptford

My favourite pub. Great beer, free bands every weekend, art gallery, good cheap food, loud music, cheap hostel upstairs and very unpretentious real Deptford people both sides of the bar. Nuff said

The Rising Sun, Lewisham

I think this pub has been taken over recently. The beer has come down a little in price, about 20p a pint but it makes a difference. I was in here on a big darts night the other week and then went back at the weekend. I was impressed by how friendly and mixed the staff and punters were. The back terrace and patio were full of happy smokers and the pride was pretty well kept.
I'd recommend it if you like a proper pub.

The Boat Inn, Penallt

I haven't been to this pub for some time but it has to be one of my all time favourites. The location is awesome, the beer and cider excellent. I first went there 30 years ago and five years ago it hadn't changed a bit. I would be upset to think it had gone downhill.

The Reform Inn, Pilton

Love this pub when I'm down visiting my rellies in Pilton. The beer is excellent and "not just for breakfast anymore" according to their advertising. They've got a skittle alley, a pool table and good jukebox. The locals are friendly too.

The Dacre Arms, Lee

A cosy little pub and v different to most in the area. Quieter than in Blackheath and more middle class, though not exclusively, than Lee. Beer is v good and it's great if you fancy a quiet natter of an evening.

The Dog and Bell, Deptford

One of the best. I travel some way to come here now and again and seldom regret it. The beer is exceptional and there are very few beer bores to worry about. (You know who you are) It's tricky to find and the locale will keep the tourists away so hooray for that. keep up the good work.

Goose, Brixton

Is this the only wetherspoon to have music? Good place to have a drink before a gig. I was there latish on a Saturday and met up with a sizable bunch of mates. We all found a seat and had no bother but the service was v slow and the ashtrays overflowing.
Hit it and quit it.

The Prince Edward, Holloway

As a regular after work visitor I'd say that this was definitely one of the best pubs in the area. I know it as having a good jukey and decent lager (shame no ales) as well as a friendly atmosphere in the early evening.

Dirty South, Lee

This pub has a long history, involving many name changes.
This reincarnation is very much same old same old except I reckon the music has got a lot better. The sound system was always good (6K in a small room will do that) The weekends when Alabama 3 are playing their residency are brilliant. Other nights feel very forced and under attended but that's usually midweek. If you fancy having a go they let you plug in on a Wednesday and the regulars are very welcoming.
The beer's nothing to write home about but some great nights to be had.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Lee

A great local's pub. If you fancy a chat, sit at the bar, you'll soon be sucked in.
The guinness is excellent and it's hands down the best pub in Lee.
