The Red Lion, Wheelton

New tenant took over December 2011. Four real ales on tap - usually Bluebird, often a mild or stout. Good selection and in excellent condition. Limited but growing menu - served Friday evening and weekends only - home cooked and tasty. Live music on some weekend nights, quiz night on Wednesday. Real fire, friendly welcome - just what community pubs used to be all about. Highly recommended.

The Malt 'n' Hops, Chorley

Great news. There is a 'new' tenant in place - Ross Anderton who has a spell as temporary manager here last year. Took over on Monday 17th December. Good luck Ross - one thing we can now guarantee is the beer quality! So lets give him our support.

The Malt 'n' Hops, Chorley

Good news - 'Brummie Dave' is back. He did an excellent job of running this place earlier this year and is trying to get it back on its feet. The quiz is back on from this Wednesday (with the previous quizmaster)and the beer range will improve - at the moment they can only sell what is in the cellar! Dont expect too much too soon - but give this pub your support.

The Dolphin Inn, Longton

A welcoming pub in an isolated position. A good variety of well kept real ales and an excellent selection of good value food. A warm welcome awaits anyone who makes the effort to find this one. 2 bars - the front one having open fires. Worth finding

The Eagle and Child, Bispham Green

A cracker. Good food and excellent changing selection of Real Ales. If only there were more pubs like this one!

The Dressers Arms, Wheelton

A comfortable country pub. There is an excellent food menu plus specials which is generally good value for money. The drinks are expensive - Phoenix Arizona at 2.60 per pint recently and the prices seeming to vary according to rarity value rather than gravity! - but there is generally a good selection and in pretty good condition (if sometimes served a bit on the cold side). The bar can get smoky and the crowd gathered around it are often noisy (in a showy sort of way). However there is a pleasant front drinking area with large cover and screens and lots of flowers so why not drink outside.

The Prince of Wales, Foxfield

A pub full of character. If you like your pubs with the designer look - forget it. However if you want to drink a great selection of real ale in interesting surroundings, this is the place to be. Be prepared to be engaged in conversation either by the staff of other drinkers. The home made pasties are tremendous too. A real pub for (and run by) real people.

The Brook House Inn, Boot

An excellent family run pub which welcomes regulars and first time visitors alike. The comfortable bar area serves snacks and full meals every day. There is also a seperate restaurant area. Up to 6 real ales - a changing selection often from local Cumbrian breweries and always in good condition. Also a fine selection of malt whiskies. Can get busy during summer but thats what you must expect in the Lakes! Comfortable good value accomodation is available.
