Had a pretty good steak here and the beer is pretty good too. Excellent location and good service. Psi - 31 Oct 2011 10:13
Well worth a visit. Lunched with friends whilst on holiday and all eight of us were appreciative of the choice of food (excellent menu and much more in additon to pub fayre) and drinks. There were five real ales and all in good condition. If only this was my local. inmyopinion - 15 Jul 2011 18:35
This friendly establishment offers good value in comfortable surroundings. Highly recommended home-made food, Camra approved ales, well chosen wines and a huge malt whiskey selection make the Brook House well worth a visit. If you can’t bear the stuffed animals in the main bar, there is always the cosy snug, smart restaurant or on a nice day, the beer garden. Ginger_Beard - 28 Sep 2009 16:20
Lovely place to eat and drink after a hard day on the fells. Great bustling atmosphere and good service from the friendly staff. The beers are always in top-notch condition and represent some of the smaller Lakeland breweries. For me, personally, it's always good to see a Yate's beer after a long walk!! The excellent food comes in good quantities and you'll find it hard to have three courses, so choose if you want to go starter/main or main/dessert beforehand. Can't comment on the accomodation yet as I've not stayed there, but will keep it in mind as a place to stay for our next visit to the area. littledrummerboy - 6 May 2009 09:35
Nice pub/hotel with a fine range of real ales. All the ones I tried (all of them over the night) were well kept. Accomodation is nice if a little overpriced but most accomodation is in the Lakes. Choice of restaurant or bar menu. We ate in the restaurant but the food was pub standard really. Nothing wrong with it, but if you're going to sell things at higher prices in the restauarnt you need to up your game. Over the evening a number of locals dropped in along with some other hotel guests. We found ourselves talking with a couple who live less than 2 miles from us and a couple of regulars. I suspect a lot of the dogs round here get quite a few "walkies" that involve a stop here as there were several dog walkers called in during the evening. ROBCamra - 22 Dec 2008 14:23
