Still no sign of landlord serving, same old snooty types at the crowded bar (altho better now thanks to the smoking ban), very expensive and certainly better service and value elsewhere.

A comfortable country pub. There is an excellent food menu plus specials which is generally good value for money. The drinks are expensive - Phoenix Arizona at £2.60 per pint recently and the prices seeming to vary according to rarity value rather than gravity! - but there is generally a good selection and in pretty good condition (if sometimes served a bit on the cold side). The bar can get smoky and the crowd gathered around it are often noisy (in a showy sort of way). However there is a pleasant front drinking area with large cover and screens and lots of flowers so why not drink outside.

This pub must now have a new chef,as the food is superb. The beer quality is excellent-especially the Big Frank's;which used to be made on the premises, but is still good whoever is brewing it.They also have a roaring fire in winter, friendly staff and locals. A bloody good pub, even though I've never seen the landlord serve a drink in all the years I've been going.

found this pub to have an excellent selection of cask beers, and although slightly pricey, it is worth it as are kept in excellent condition. Nice to be offered to try a sample before buying! I had a chicken and bacon baguette which was superb (for bar food) - and dog was offered schmacko AND water by barmaid!!

Found it extremely pleasant a couple of years back - beer was great. The pub over the road by the canal (forget the name) is great and does lovely Indian food).
