The Shooting Star, Liverpool Street

Bit like having a pint in your local Tescos (but more expensive).

Quite rubbish for this area of town, and the Fullers ales (despite the amount sold), are pretty poor.

Language barrier as well (which doesn't help when you're ordering a pint).

Rubbish.

Duke Of Wellington, Belgravia

Seems that John Bond (the landlord), has moved to pastures new (Plough in Sheen?).

Great memories of this pub, can't see it being the same without him.

Haven't been back for a couple of years, so I'd love to know what it's like.

And yes - Eustace, no-one cares about your name-dropping/delusions of grandeur. Get a life.

The Kings Bar & Bistro, Amersham

Oh dear - re-opened as part of the Zola Hotel Group.

Best to look at the local Amersham forum for reviews.

Terrible - and they know it.

Revised my old review for the pub (9) to (0).

What have they done?

The Eagle, Amersham

Having been back recently, I'd have to lower my score slightly due to the 'Surly' barmaid we encounted. If it was just myself then I wouldn't have created this post - however three of us were unhappy about the service we were given. I've reduced my rating by 6 points.

The Iron Horse, Amersham

Sorry about the spelling mistakes.

I meant 'Just' and 'Hindsight'. Still no loss (like my spelling).

The Elephant and Castle, Amersham

Agree with the 'thebluereview' - It's a great pub during the day - very friendy and the staff are great. If you're over thirty, then not the best place at weekends.

The Iron Horse, Amersham

RIP Iron Horse - It's a shame that when you closed, you let your customers destroy the other pubs in the area - those with customers who wanted to be left alone (perhaps with those who justed wanted to read a newspaper alone)in peace.

In hindsite, a block of flats is the best that could have happened to you.

The Chequers, Amersham

One of the oldest pubs in Amersham (you can refer to other websites about it's ghosts/martyrs etc).

Excellent books about it's history are also available from the Amersham library.

It also supplies a very good B&B service.

That was the good news, now the bad news.

Unfortunately, since the Iron Horse closed down - the place has become full of nut-cases (one of whom is well known throughout the area).

It's changed from a welcoming pub, to one whereby I've been threatened with physical violence (purely because I was reading a newspaper and wouldn't respond to a nutter who was hitting me on my arm - believe me it happened.).

The owners and staff are extremely nice people, but will not do anything about it. To give you an example, they'll serve 11 pints of understrength lager to one local nutter as he can't tell the difference. This same nutter has lots of friends who laugh at him, and not with him.

Never take a girlfriend into this place - it's extremely embarrassing, as the local idiots will point her out and then sit next to you and make disgusting remarks.

I'll make more comments later - but I'm currently writing a novel about this place - it makes 'Bedlam' look like a bloody duck pond.

A nice 'zero' for this place at the moment.
