Arcadia Ale and Wine Bar, Headingley

As has been said looks nothing special from the outside but worth going in. Usually 4 or 5 cask ales at the bar and some contintental beers, friendly staff and customers and a nice chilled atmosphere. Can get quite full but they plan to extend into next door.

Walters Bar, Hull

There is nowhere else quite like this place in Hull, especially in the city centre. A wide choice of real ales plus contintental beers on draught and in bottles and extensive wine range. A relaxed friendly non-threatening atmosphere with no loud music, no machines and no chavs.

The Maltings, York

Strange place this. The beer is consistently good, it has a nice atmosphere and the customers are a friendly bunch but the same cannot be said of the staff who seem totally disinterested. The last time I visited I couldn't even get in. It was 10.45pm on saturday night (yes saturday) and my wife and I wanted to call in for one on our way home and the doorman said they had stopped letting people in! In future we'll give it a miss as there are other better pubs in York. NIce beer, shame about the customer service.
