Pogue Mahones, Liverpool

I also visited Pogus Mahones for the first time recently. I was pleasantly surprised at just how good it was. Considering it was Friday night, the barmaid still brought our drinks to us, rather than us having to wait at the bar. Great "craic", lovely fires and possibly the best pint of Guiness I've ever had, as well as being cheap (1.50 a go)!

The Tigers Head, Norley

My advice about this pub - DON'T BOTHER!! Went here with my wife and two kids for Sunday lunch, having phoned first to make sure they allowed children. Arrived on time and ordered our meals. We then waited over an hour for our food to arrive! The children got very bored, as well as hungry. The staff were unapologetic when we asked how long we would have to wait and, when the food finally arrived, we asked what had caused the delay as we had seen other punters arriving after us and hitting the nose bag before us. The response we got was incredibly rude and we were more or less accused of lying! So, if you don't like a long wait for your food (this pubs main earner by the look of things) and rude staff, give it a miss.

The Ship Inn, Haskayne

Visited The Ship with my family last night and had dinner. This is a great pub because it is just that-a pub, not a place to eat where you can get a pint! I had a couple of pints of one of the guest bitters (although don't know what it was as I asked for whatever was best at the time). It was a great pint, well kept and not, for a change, run through the lager chillers. We had a great meal - the steak was the best I have ever eaten-which was served by helpful and friendly staff. All in all, a very pleasant night out. I would definitely recommend this pub to anyone who finds themselves in the area.

The Ship and Mitre, Liverpool

This is one of my favourite pubs in Liverpool. The exterior isn't great and you might walk past if you didn't know what delights were inside! Best selection of imported beers of any pub I've been to in this country. Also, great that your drink is served in the correct glass-just like in Belgium. Simple food available and tastes great. Many a good night to be had in here.
