The Social, Fitzrovia

Lived in London for five years and this is one of the few places I was was still going back to after all that time. Not that often, probably about once every couple of months, but it remained a regular fixture. Good bar, nice atmosphere and good nights on downstairs.

Travellers Rest, Tickhill

Tickhill's roughest pub. Make of that what you will. Also, the only pub in Tickhill with a pool table and a jukebox. Used to drink here all the time before I moved away, for those two reasons alone (for decent beer, go to the Scarbs; for good company go to the Carps).

Tir Na Nog, Wandsworth

Great pub, this. Rough round the edges, lovely staff and a good pint poured. Plus a comedy pool table in the back. A pub to spend a whole night in.

The East Hill, Wandsworth

Not really my kind of place - as others have noted this is a bit of haven for braying morons. I'm not a violent man, but after one smart comment too many from a Toby/Henry/Rupert as I walked past on my way home I would happily bring a bunch of Donny lads down and give them all a good slapping about with their own oars. Would have been an acceptable '5', but the clientele push it down to a '3' - avoid. Go to the Alma down the road instead, still full of posh folk but they're much nicer and more tasteful posh folk.

The Leigham Arms, Streatham

Very much a locals' pub, but a welcoming one nonetheless. Lived a couple of streets away for a year and always enjoyed drinking here, the kind of place you can come to by yourself and still have a good night with the regulars. The rest of St. Reatham is absolutely bloody awful, making this a real oasis. Good for watching footy too, just be careful leaving through the side door after a skinful, as it opens directly onto the road!

The Dog and Partridge, Didsbury

Agree with some of the other drinkers here - Didsbury is hit and miss with its pubs. D&P is a definite 'hit' though, my favourite since moving here three months ago. Good beer, good crowd (chain pubs usefully draw away the c**ts, of whom there are many in Didsvegas on a Saturday night), a 'proper pub' feel without making too big a deal about it. Oh, and free monkey nuts. Lovely.
