| Not really my kind of place - as others have noted this is a bit of haven for braying morons. I'm not a violent man, but after one smart comment too many from a Toby/Henry/Rupert as I walked past on my way home I would happily bring a bunch of Donny lads down and give them all a good slapping about with their own oars. Would have been an acceptable '5', but the clientele push it down to a '3' - avoid. Go to the Alma down the road instead, still full of posh folk but they're much nicer and more tasteful posh folk. | There is nothing louder or more unappealing than a slashed up Sloane? Excellent layout & decor, great beer, but the clientele of beered up braggards just off the train from up town make this one to avoid at certain times anonymous - 8 Aug 2007 16:48 |
| Growing up three streets away I have seen this pub change through the ages, comming full circle back to a warm and convivial local... anonymous - 2 Dec 2006 02:41 |
| Ok it doesn't have the charismatic grubbiness that I usually go for in a pub but I quite liked it. Inside looks much better than out. I ate in there and the food was good. They had T.E.A on one of the handpumps which you don't see in many places. The atmosphere was far less ra-ra-ra than down the road at the Alma. The staff were all polite and efficient. It's a place I'd go to eat and have a few but if I were just drinking then I'd opt for the Grapes. mitomighty - 22 Aug 2006 17:53 |
