Via Bar and Restaurant, Nottingham

This pub/bar is housed in a gorgeous building the decor is great there are loads of levels and little hidy holes, its wonderfully situated on the waterside and its great to enjoi a pint outside by the river in the summer, but why oh why is it always full of complete tossers! Please someone throw out the knobbers and make this into a real ale pub like The Fellows, sigh such a waste....

The Salutation Inn, Nottingham

Good selection of real ales, nice food and a cracking Rock night on a Saturday evening. Good area of notts for real ales away from the townies and chavs.

Revolution, Nottingham

Great place for food in the daytime but agree is a bit too townie in the evening. Don't ever try the chilli vodka, it tastes as bad as it sounds, I'm sure I could feel it melting my insides!

Pitcher & Piano, Nottingham

This is a lovely pub/bar in an area of extreme pretension and expense! A welcome relief. As its a converted church the area inside is huge and it has a big outside area to the front of the building, therefore accept on a saturday night its usually not too crowded. They having a cracking wine list and the beers are well kept. The food is good if a little faffy.

The Pit and Pendulum, Nottingham

Great pub, even though its a chain agree about the ales though, they could do with more bitters. Music can be a bit bizarre however we went in expecting rock or goth and they had experimental Jazz playing, how odd! If your not a Veggie try the monster burger its a challange and a half a real protein overload!

Sir John Warren, Ilkeston

I used to like it here before it was done up now its too loud, packed full of townies and boiling hot in the evening, the beer is crap too and overpriced, I'd recommend going round the corner to the Moon instead tends to be a bit quieter. Foods not great either although its pretty cheap!

The White Cow, Ilkeston

Fab carvery and good beer, shame its so far out of town, if your coming in on the bus from Notts you pass it on the way into Ilson definately worth getting off a stop or two early for that first pint!

The Gallows Inn, Ilkeston

Great pub for a game of pool and a quick bite to eat although the menu is a bit limited. Beer good and staff friendly. Nice pub to sit outside during the summer months as it is situated on a canal next to a lock.

The Dewdrop Inn, Ilkeston

Great pub although I've taken friends in who think its a bit spit and saw dust. Pah shandy drinking swines, what do they know! Bizarrely they used to have a poetry night once a month (not sure if they still do) which was a rare treat in Ilkeston! The food is ace, I recommend there door stopper sarnies you won't have to eat again for a week. Landlord is super-friendly and the well kept real ales are great. Definately what pubs should be a real treat.

Carpenters Arms, Ilkeston

Great little pub, with a huge menu I definately recomend the Ploughmans! Beer is great and they always have a couple of real ales on too.

The Queens Head Inn, Tirril

I can't understand the previous comment at all I stayed overnight here after a long drive back home from Glasgow and what can I say, the ale, service, room and food were all spot on! We even took a crate of the beer they brew themselves back home with us it was so good. A definate recommendation if you happen to find yourself in Penrith!

Ye Olde Dolphin Inn, Derby

Definately the best pub in Derby, great selection of real ales, friendly staff, excellent menu, even a little beer garden round the back, if its real ales your after this is definately the end of town you want to be as its close to The Flower Pot and The Silk Mill, The Bless is round the corner which is also a decent pub if a bit studenty!
