After a few visits, this place has grown on me. Good selection of well kept ales; friendly landlord who knows his beer.

Visited on a Friday night and there was a real mix of locals/goths and who knows who! I always liked the "feel" of this place, these days it is selling excellent Deuchars.

Since being under new ownership, it has improved dramatically. I regularly enjoy a pint there. It has some good local bands and has a lively fun environment.

Thera, that is a great pub review. Never saw the noisy american at the bar, always found enough noisy brits in there to be honest.

A few visits back when we were here an American was sitting at the bar and he was quite loud. I am an American myself and felt the need to keep a low profile. On a later visit the same guy was there again, still just as loud. Our last visit there was a set of rules next to the bar about how Americans should behave while in the bar. The American was missing; have no idea where he was. I found it quite funny but still kept a low profile. Americans should learn to turn the volume down and keep most of their opinions to themselves and drink their beer quietly.
