The Haven Arms, Ealing

Don't know if I should tell you this but ....

THIS MAY BE THE LAST REAL PUB IN EALING

If you come in more than a couple of times the bar staff will remember your order and if you tell them your name they'll probably get that too !

Compared to the brewery run chain Pubs this place has all the things they lack.

Here goes :

Character
Individuality
Top Staff
Management that are interested in their jobs (and in doing them well)
A couple of quality TVs with Sky Sports AND Setanta
Pool Table
Darts
Quiz Night
Poker (not for me but if you like that sort of thing)
Don't like the music ask them (nicely) to change it and they will
Live Music on a Thursday (nothing too loud - normally a fairly mellow duo)
Proper freshly cooked food prepared by a full-time Chef (Sunday Lunch is an absolute must !)
Spotless Loos
Real mixed bag of customers from labourers to college lecturers, Businessmen to Students, Journalists to Engineers. If this isn't the easiest Pub in Ealing to strike up an intelligent conversation (without fear of violence) I don't know what is !

Ealing_Pubspy's PUB OF THE YEAR !!!

The Shanakee, Ealing

Does what it says on the tin.

No frills Pub with good enough prices, good enough service and rough looking punters.

Don't wear your best shoes into the Gents though

O'Neills, Ealing

Hmmm tough one this

OK at lunchtime I guess but needs a deep clean.

Bar staff are friendly and helpful but it is in the warzone area of Ealing on a Friday and Saturday night and I refuse to go anywhere with bouncers on the door

Loos are a disgrace.

When are Pubcos going to realise that people who drink need to use the loo ?

If you can't make the public parts of the premises look their best what is it like behind the counter or (worse) the kitchen ?

Ealing Pubspy is watching you !

The North Star, Ealing

Used to be run by the redoubtable Rita Quinn & Family and the service was fantastic.

Considering the Pub's superb location and reasonable decor, having the slowest and surliest bar staff in West London is not doing them any favours.

Beer and food expensive by local comparison and what's wrong with a Jukebox rather than having to listen to the staff's choice of depressing dirges ?

The Grange, Ealing Common

Average Restaurant with OK Pub attached or over-priced Pub with a posh Harvester attached ?

Used to be OK a few years ago when run by Andy & Julia but disappeared up it's own fundament some while ago.

Full of the sort of people who've just moved in to the area and have annexed this part of Ealing as their own.

Food - if you want to eat go to Charlotte's Place. Drinks - OK but on the steep side.

The only advantage this Pub has is it's location as there isn't another place for a quarter of a mile.

Chandlers, Ealing

Well, what a mixed bag of reviews !

I can only assume those of you who've liked it had a few drinks before you got there.

Service - poor to non-existant
Food - Usual Microwaved Rubbish
Cleanliness - Filthy
Customers - People who don't know any better or who have been barred from everywhwere else !
