The Old Kings Head, Borough

Decent real ale pub - had the St Austell Proper Job which was fantastic. Happy hour up til 7pm - 2.50 a pint. Great value in a City pub.

Like this pub a lot - only dampener on the evening was the old fella behind us who kept dropping his guts every 5 minutes.

The Old Doctor Butler's Head, Moorgate

Love this place. Many an afternoon spent here. Always very busy, but service is always quick. Kent's Best is a lovely pint.

Spitfire posters on the way to the toilets is a nice touch.

A proper drinkers pub.

The Pride of Spitalfields, Shoreditch

Annual visit to the Pride last night and it was excellent as always. Brewers Gold was not available but the London Pride was perfect - and prices unbelievably reasonable.

Only dampener was that we didn't get to see Lenny.

The Oakhill Tavern, Beckenham

I went in the Oakhill this saturday for an early lunch and it was very pleasant. All the Fires were roaring and the barman very helpful. Ordered food, which was reasonable and decent. Was just enjoying a quiet pint when two groups of lads walked in who all thought they were in Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels.

This pub is really trying to change from its past and is to be commended for trying all the Jam Nights, Roast & Records and Quiz nights - i really hope they do well but until they shed the clientel which always seems to come crawling back then it won't be the success it can be unfortunately.

The Clockhouse, Beckenham

Now a block of flats

The George, Beckenham

2.50 a Fosters, also an offer of 99p for a glass of wine. You don't see that very often these days.

The Anchor, Southwark

Unfortunately this is a complete tourist trap. We were going to the Globe and thought it would be a nice place to have a drink and bite to eat in this place. My advice - DON'T!

Drink - Got served but both times it was by barman who'd looked like they'd just landed from space and had never seen a till before. Incidentally a pint of Kronenbourg sets you back 3.60.

Food - This was the real joke. Ours came out and after spending 10 mins specifying my order they still got it wrong. We also ordered Shepherds Pie which included possibly one tablespoon of mince in the whole thing and they had the cheek to charge 9.50 for it.
This wasn't an isolated incident as whilst sitting in there one other table sent their food back due to a wrong order (wish i had) and another table still hadn't received their food 45 mins after ordering!

AVOID THIS PLACE.

The Village Tap, Victoria Park

Nice little traditional pub which offers complimentary food of a sunday lunchtime.

Patrick's, Beckenham

Hit and Miss. Can sometimes be good and a laugh but at other times can be a bit verminous.

The Ship, Tower Hill

This pub has been transformed by the current owners. I can't think of a pub in the City where you get the service you do in The Ship. Food is good too and reasonably priced. A little haven which is a nice change from the usual City chain pubs/bars

The Mudlark, London Bridge

Turned up at this pub at half past 10 in a big group and the bar staff managed to speak enough English to say the bar was closed.

Not welcoming and and full of dodgy clientele.

Avoid

The Jolly Woodman, Beckenham

The way a pub should be. Decent beers on tap, lovely atmosphere, beautiful old building and service with a smile.

Nothing to fault in this place.
