Although the pub sign is still up (Wem Ales) it appears to have closed and is now part of a housing development behind the Leaking Tap pub

A pub worth seeking out - looks like it could do with a coat of paint outside but architecturally old/interesting. Food good value - had a ploughman with all the trimmings and drinks not bad either. Quiet when we went (in the village rather than on the main Ellesmere Road) but still a free house worth popping into if passing by.

Food rather basic/dated/simple - looks like they are trying to compete with price offers at the other pub in the village (a chain) but the quality/presentation isn't the same - the specials can look and taste like frozen ready meals . Beer a little disappointing too for a free house. Lots of potential but possibly needs some investment/new ideas.

Also known as the Tilley Raven, obviously a food pub with a small but cosy snug. Brilliant beers - obscure real ales very well kept. Food also excellent - best we have had in years - not cheap but well worth it. We went early and did not have to wait long but we expect it gets busy. Well worth checking out - looks to be a great place to take friends who come to stay with us.

Oh dear. The night we went specials on the board were not available but they hadn't bothered removing them, other customers got meals not containing the ingredients advertised, service was slow and confused, the electrics flickered alarmingly, helpings were small but pretentious, beer unremarkable and the whole thing severely overpriced. They are trying to be what they clearly aren't.

Rather a nice pub - meals look good/well priced and the interior is attractive. The car park could be better marked out.
