Despite reports this pub is being sold, it is now under new management, experienced friendly couple. Good beers available. I look forward to the progress we need another good local in this area and someone who know what they are doing to bring this good local back to life.

Called in on a Saturday during the twice yearly beer festival and had an excellent and previously unheard of pint from the rack of barrels situated against the wall near the bar. Although the pub seemed a bit devoid of atmosphere, it was pretty full and a group were setting up in the corner so they are obviously doing something right.

Great Proper pub, Had beer on from both Flower Pots Brewery and Itchen Valley when I called in on a Thursday. Food looked good so we shared a diy ploughmans made up of local ingredients like rabbit, pork pie, cheese.
Nice atmosphere and welcoming barman. Was even more pleased to see the pub had locale status and offers a CAMRA card discount on beer.

Called on the way in to Alresford end of May heading for the Real Ale train. Nice plain simple decor bar but quiet (2 in bar) for a Saturday night and compared to the Horse and Groom, although it was early evening.
Sat outside in the sun with halves of Green King IPA which was very good. I think it is because it is on the outskirts of town, although not far, that it was quiet but should be a good middle of the road pub for this (what seems to be a very polarised) town.

Visited on a quiet Weds lunchtime. Attractive interior but no lunch menu. Only two Greene King standards on offer. After a long walk from Winchester, I was disappointed.
