user reviews of the Old Rep, Ipswich

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

the only thing stopping this dive from being the worst pub in ipswich (and therefore propbably the world) is Yates' up the road.

and that's the only thing. absolute hole of a pub populated by the worst of chavdom with crap, loud dance music blaring out at a volume that will make your fillings rattle. choose the old rep & lose the will to live.

I can only echo what's been said here already.... not great, but OK if you want to go for a lager. Busy on Fridays and Saturdays, bit grubby, commercial music, looks like a Vegas outtake but on a much smaller scale.

Popped into this “SuperPub” in its fantastic central Ipswich location in what used to be the old repertory theatre. Had some shocking food…..but the service and staff were excellent even if the boozer was half empty? Bottled beers from the continent are your best bet; the Ales/lagers on draft are the UK’s usual BIG name nastiness, why oh why do the majority put up with such rubbish?!

Fridays and Saturdays are busy, with the DJ and dance floor on the go. Plenty of room, toilets a trek and although the bar shines the furniture is looking a little grubby as well as goddammit uncomfortable. We had our food, one more bottled Polish lager and departed, not to return again in the near future…..

Now just called The Rep. Gets lively on Fri/Sat night. Small dancefloor near the DJ Booth.

This is a superpub, not a super pub. I think the rating is strangely high.
