Having read the previous review I feel that I must say something in the Ship's defence. I have also been using the pub for several years; unlike the previous reviewer I do so most weekends, not just on 'irregular occasions' and during the folk festival (once a year). I have always found the staff and customers to be very friendly and welcoming to everyone. The food is also excellent both in terms of value for money and quality - nothing fancy just good pub food. As for the previous reviewer's experience, my experience of the folk festival is that certain pubs become so crowded it is impossible to get in. Folk music is also played/sung constantly. This isn't to everyone's taste and I imagine if you work in one of the pubs concerned it can be a little wearing to say the least. (How would the previous reviewer like it if he/she was forced to listen to music all day at work which he/she detested.) This is starting to sound like some kind of anti folk festival rant - it isn't meant to, each to his own and all that. The festival does bring a lot of business to the town and it is only once a year. This brings me back to my first point - all I am saying is don't judge a pub on a isolated incident in circumstance which are far from typical.

I have been a customer of The Ship for many years, mainly during the Wadebridge folk festival but also on other irregular occasions, and have always considered that this is one of the best pubs in Cornwall.
My experience this weekend has left me quite determind not to set foot in the place whilst the current landlord and staff are in residence. (And I'm not alone in that.)
Some words to sum up the experience of myself and some other customers this weekend are: "Ignorant. Rude. Abusive. Inpolite. Unwelcoming." These are the comments that I can pepeat on this site.
A barmaid (partner of the landlord) was heard to say "This bunch of to**ers think they own the f***ing pub..."
It seems bizarre that anyone in the hospitality trade would not wish to have between 50 and 200 folkies swilling beer and occasionally eating in the pub for four days. They say there’s nowt as daft as folk!

Best pub in town centre area. On its own across the bridge so away from all the riff raff on the other side. New management I gather offering reasonably priced food. Good atmosphere.
