| Goodness - what a pain to register on this website just to post a review! However, we thought this pub was worth the time it took to do so. We went on a Groupon offer before Christmas and thought the food was excellent, the staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Plan to revisit - especially on the steak night as the steak we had was very good. So good to see a pub which had been empty for some time given a new lease of life. Their Groupon offer was very good compared to others we have tried, very good value and no quibbles over what was included. likemyfood - 20 Jan 2012 21:47 |
| Read these reviews and decided to make up our own minds after looking at the menu online which seemed pretty good. The car park warns you that "social misfits operate in the area so don't leave valuables in the car!!!!!' So we were wondering what we would meet at 5pm on a Sunday afternoon but we were so pleasantly surprised, restaurant was fully booked and the bar full. We managed to get a bar area table and ate there. Hubby pleased with the selection of ales and had a pint of Doombar. Food really quite good and atmosphere great too, food and drink prices very good too. As they were so busy was assuming we would have a long wait for food but wasn't the case and the staff efficient and pleasant. What a great local find, we normalyy drive 20-30 mins to find food and surroundings of this calibre, lets hope they go from strength to strength. yummummy - 11 Dec 2011 21:29 |
| Beware of your valuables in this pub - there are thieves operating. My jacket was on the back of my chair whilst eating lunch. It's not until I later on that I realised my cashcard and drivers licence had been taken out of my wallet, and £1,500 cash had been drawn out of my bank account at three separate branches in Croydon that same afternoon. Be very careful. gwendybird - 2 Dec 2011 11:51 |
| My friend and I visited the Ravensbury Arms yesterday for a meal using a Groupon voucher my friend had purchased. The service we received was excellent, we were greeted with a friendly smile when we walked in and our waiter was also extremely friendly and attentive. The food we had was excellent and very tasty and we would certainly visit the Ravensbury again. I have read some of the other reviews and would like to bring peoples attention to the fact the this pub and restaurant has not long re-opened and a lot of the negative comments were posted before the re-opening, so please give this place a chance and try it for yourselves, I do not think you will be disappointed. | So after a period of 'which way will it go' - restaurant idea that went bust then back to a pub again - this has had a re-furb, and tried it out around a month ago. It looks nice inside, the bar area seems more impressive with a greater range of drinks. Staff too are very friendly. But from my POV and others below just seems like that little bit is missing. With my visit, food was fine and they even said they'd bring our drinks to our table - but then we got handed the dessert menu, and we'd built up to have one, but then after having one staff member come around and pander to all of the 3 other tables around us for around 20 minutes - and she came around 5-6 times, we felt ignored and asked for the bill. I think this included the table next to us pretty much receiving their roast dinner and finishing it off during the wait. However, don't want to be too negative - will definately give it another go - it deserves to do well... the_original_rawnsleys - 9 Nov 2011 08:49 |
