We arrived dripping wet & muddy from a walk along the Limestone Way. Their Easter weekend beer and music festival was well underway. The beers were in excellent condition with a great range and friendly advice. The pub is rooted in its community, seemed to suit all ages and gave youngsters a great opportunity to play a set. The food was burgers and chips compared to their usual extensive menu. The pub is alive & well as a concept in Bonsall. Friendly chat to one & all. They deserve to do well. thewickingman - 15 Apr 2012 18:04

Made to feel very welcome on Halloween night party. Landlady led band which was the entertainment for the evening. Was it good? oh yes-- we had a cracking night and the place was full of characters. Everyone was soooo friendly and I would recomend it to anyone. Quirky but fun. mogrider - 31 Oct 2010 22:39
This is the sort of pub you hope to find in the country rather than all those olde English, over priced, barely tolerant of passing trade places. Not a wide selection of beers but the Whim Hartington was very drinkable. Went in with my kids and made to feel welcome. The food was well priced and the portions enormous (partly as an apology for being a little slow in coming). Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. And an annual hen race. Stein - 7 May 2010 15:48
This is a great looking pub from the outside. The interior is desceptively small with only around 5-6 tables. The landlady was extremely friendly. As were the rest of the staff. We had a couple of the chip butties which went down quite well. Only one real ale was on - Whim Hartington Bitter. Outdoor toilets when it is -4 outside are not ideal! blue_scrumpy - 4 Jan 2010 17:24
