Well worth the hike up the steep hill, a very marvellous pint of Blue Monkey Evolution.

I don't see why this pub is listed with all the other pubs in Bath, Somerset, when it is miles away in Derbyshire.

Landlord and staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the beers and always keeps a good selection on. Brew Dog from Fraserborough always seems to go down well as does any of the (slightly more local) Blue Monkey and Thornbridge.

Never eaten there but the food always looks good. If you are a real ale enthusiast and ever in Matlock Bath, it is worth the walk up the hill as you are away from the tourist area an will find yourself in a nice and friendly hostelry.

Good pub with good quality ale.
friendly staff who seemed to know their stuff.
The pump clips around the place shows the great ales that pass through.
Reccommended

The busiest of 3 places we visited in Matlock Bath. Has nice views over the dale. It also had the best selection of real ales and had plenty of young locals. During our visit, they had Peak Paxton, Bampton Stout & Golden Bud and Howard Town Wrens Nest. I was also informed that they occasionally stock a local real cider or Weston's Old Rosie. Unfortunately they had sold out for my visit. The barman seemed very knowledgeable and it was nice to see some enthusiasm for the trade.
