Usual Wetherspoons interior, but a fine selection of ales and very quick and friendly service. Unlike many other pubs, this wasn't packed on Saturday evening, which suited me but probably isn't a good sign economically.

Popped in here after a very bad experience in a nearby boozer!! What a difference. Good beer (one beer ran out but the barman gave us nearly a pint of it for free while he went to change the cask). Typical huge Wetherspoons interior but all very pleasant and friendly - they even ordered a taxi for us. If you are heading for The Bantam or The Racehorse then I suggest you forget them and use this instead!

This pub is now known as The Eastgate.

The change has been an improvement.

This pub, has just had a wonderful refurb, it has transformed from a mundane chav bar to a trendy, but traditional pub, lots of oak and wallpaper.
I took my son in for lunch as they were running a "kids eat free" weekend, the food was good and i had a lovely pint of Brains SA, and a Greene King Ruddles only £1.29 bargain!
