Odd pub, staff are rude, no TV's for sport but cheap so it's a winner for me! statto74 - 2 Sep 2011 15:58

Possibly my favourite Sam Smith's in the capital. Lots of seats, though it can get impressively packed at weekends. It's easy to strike up a conversation with all sorts of people. If it's just too busy upstairs, it's often possible to sit in the basement. A good all-round pub with a rich history. MX7 - 2 Mar 2011 16:55
Spent last Saturday night in here after a nice meal in Soho. The place was busy but we managed to get the last table in the corner. Even though it was busy it was friendly and welcoming unlike so many pubs in the area. A Sam Smith's pub with the usual beverages on offer, I opted for the Stout and my wife had one of those bottled cherry beers; the stout was superb. We stayed until closing (1100hrs) and had a very nice night. Paulb014 - 3 Feb 2011 12:39
Buzzing on a Thursday afternoon with city workers, off-the-clock docs and home counties students avoiding the anti-fees demo violence just a few streets away. A barmaid that can efficiently and promptly serve several people at once. Usual walnut veneer of a Sam Smiths pub suit the literary feel of the place & enhanced with tasteful Xmas decorations. Recommended. ShenaniganOFlanaghan - 10 Dec 2010 20:06
