Located a few doors down from The Carpenters Arms is The Three Tuns. Outside, we learn that the building dates back to 1515 and is the earliest surviving building connected with the Government of Windsor. The Three Tuns was alternatively known as the Guildhall and as the Town Hall until the building of the present Guild Hall. Despite the apparent age of the building, the pub interior is a bog standard cut and paste job - comfortable and carpeted, but, despite there being several different areas, no real character or distinctive features. Based on my recent lunchtime visit, this pub has more of a locals feel than the nearby Carpenters Arms and there's no real discernible play for the passing tourist trade. The 3 pumps were serving London Pride and a rather moderate Doom Bar at £ 2.90p. I'd be inclined to pass this one by next time JohnBonser - 3 Sep 2010 12:48
After spending a beautiful day in Windsor we wanted a traditional him cooked Sunday lunch. We we attracted by the large sign "traditional Sunday roast" just what we were looking for. We went in and ordered and after a 45 minute wait our food arrived. What a disappontment to say the least!!! I can only describe it as a frozen ready meal and my thoughts were confirmed when under the 2 slices of very thin beef was a large piece of plastic bag. I called the manager over who confirmed it was a bag that the beef is boiled in. After he changed the meal I began to eat it. The beef was like chewing cardboard, the two very small roast potatoes were hard. I would day avoid at all costs. Spoilt our day. Carlyorks - 22 Aug 2010 17:01
Very friendly atmosphere and the drinks, while not the cheapest around, aren't too badly priced. When I went there last they had a good special on bottles of wine. Normally attracts a younger crowd (18-21ish) in the evenings, especially weekend nights. Would recommend. gregatb - 3 Sep 2009 18:53
We tried the Three Tuns today - my husband had the Sunday roast, I had the Chicken Tikka Marsala. Very disappointing to say the least. The service was prompt and the waitress pleasant, but the food left much to be desired. We have ate at many places around Windsor and this was by far the most disappointing. The pub to the left of this one is much better, just as historical but a better atmosphere and the food far superior. Don't waste your time here, there are plenty of great pubs and restaurants in Windsor that you will be much happier with. movingtoengland - 30 Nov 2008 18:35
Rude staff? Not in this place. Staff are great, good selection of drinks and a jukebox with Guns n' Roses Greatest Hits on it. Fantastic. mad_mullah - 19 Aug 2006 05:41
