| Maybe not quite as good as it was pre Wadworths 20 years back when the beer range was superb including Adnams Broadside & Tanglefoot etc, etc but still not a bad place at all. Very welcoming staff, quick service and a pleasent atmosphere to enjoy a decent pint. Nice garden to the side too. Can be difficult to park close by at times. MisterX - 6 Mar 2008 11:04 |
| Wow, what a gem! Great beer, friendly atmosphere (a very cheery landlord!)....just very relaxing. Also, the pub dog and pub cat are the friendliest pets. If you pull up a spare stool, the cat will happily sit with your group and laugh at the witty banter (well, will hancker after some petting at least!), and Cerys the dog will expect you to throw her favourite bar towel for her to fetch! | A cracking little local that has all the picturesque charm of a village hostelry, but that certain slickness that one sees of a more urban establishment. Very friendly licensee, food looked good (well-priced steak fillet at under a tenner, though didn't sample), and most significantly, a full and well-conditioned range of Wadworth beers. The Bishop's Tipple was in exceptional form on draught, notwithstanding it not being the beer we all remember. This is a tucked away, but utterly worthwhile divertion if swanning about W-o-T. I take the point about decor though; it is tidy and clean, but the '70s/'80s (generous?!) burgundy upholstery and slightly overbearing sub-dado-rail tartan (yes, tartan!) wallpaper has perhaps run its course. A subtle makeover would make the Victoria realise its full potential. TWG - 26 Jun 2007 16:37 |
| Great little pub with friendly landlord, good beer and nice atmosphere. One minor criticism is that it could do with some minor redecoration (not gutting it but just tidying up). jake1 - 1 Jun 2007 12:09 |
| This is a Proper Pub. Good real ale (Cask Marque approved) and very friendly, with a wide range of patrons. No loud music, unless the landlord's band is playing - and that's well worh a listen unless Graham is singing Mr PSB - 29 Oct 2004 08:24 |
