Nice little side street pub, good for a quiet pint in the evening. Beware the lunchtime bar maid though. I don't think she's related to the two brothers that seem to run the place, but she does her best to be awkward when you order food & responds with a snarl or a shrug if you dare to complain about the food or ask for chips with your main course instead of mash!

Three of us dropped in here for lunch. Two of us ordered soup (brocolli and stilton). When it came, it was lukewarm, and tasted of nothing in particular, apart from the lumpy bits of flour floating about. The bread roll had been recently defrosted and was hard and chewy.

When I complained, I got no acknowledgement, apart from a slight shrug. No apology, no words whatsoever. Not an experience I want to repeat and definitely not a pub for eating in.

Popped in for food. Which was good, as was the ale.
Were this pub in my home town it would be streets ahead of the competition, but in Rye I'm afraid it's just another very good pub.

Not a great experience here - group of 9, including 4 kids. Food served included lukewarm steak and kidney pies, and a fish pie without a single piece of fish. We complained about this, and were told that this was the way the fish pie is always prepared. We were given a £2 refund, not really adequate given the standard of the food on offer. Not cheap either - £7.50 about the cheapest meal on offer and no child portions or reduced price / sized meals avaliable.

Harveys best on draught - again, not in great condition and not a patch on the pints served elsewhere in town.

We were basically glad to leave this pub , wish we hadn't gone in there in the first place

We were looking for decent ale and something to eat. Having found only one bitter on, decided to scout a few other pubs only to end up back here rather disappointed. However, the food here was excellent, ample and good value.
