Beer choice was a little more limited than some Castleton pubs, but the ale that I tried was very good. There is a fairly large bar area as well as a big room set up with dining tables

Great pub.

I visited in February with my wife and 4 year old. It was a cold day so it was great to walk into a pub with 2 real log fires. The service was very good with 4-5 good real beers on tap. The food was good as well and very reasonably priced. The 4 year old was given a colouring pad and won a prize for completing it. I would certainly go back.

Visited last week, they had 5 ales on tap. Landlord which was ok, Sheffield Brewery's Seven Hills (v nice) Everards Tiger (not bad) and I can't remember the others. We didn't bother with the restaurant as apparently the food is the same as served in the bar, had a mixed grill which was a heartly plateful and did what a mixed grill should, filled me full to the gills with tasty meat. I enjoyed my visit and would happily go back.

I visited here several times over Christmas & New Year 2010, having last visited Feb 2010. What a difference! Super choice of beers, all at correct temperature, staff friendly, & I would say to anyone who has been before & was unhappy, "try it again". well done John and Vicky.

BEER... Well what can you say about the Nags Head? I've been here loads over the years and seen staff come and go at a rate of knots...
The Cask lines have increased and the old regulars of Lanlord & Black Sheep kept. The temperature of the beer has improved immensely used to be far too cold.
Spoke to young chap behind the bar regarding the ales, He wasn't that knowledgable about them but knew which breweries they came from though. He told me that the chef had took over running the hotel and spent a lot of time in the cellar looking after the ale. The price and quality of the cask is really good now and would recommend anyone touring castleton to pop in and try. Keep up the good work chef whoever you are.
