This was a good, old pub that was "refurbished" by Ember Inns. So, the original 18th Century wood was ripped out, and some new laminated furniture was installed. Still, the beer is fine, the service is reasonable, and there are no TV screens. However, it can get busy at weekends, and the food service can be slow. Overall, a good pub, with no tracksuit wearers.

Have enjoyed a pleasant meal and drink in this pub. The real ale was in excellent condition. Staff were very friendly and seemed concerned that we had enjoyed our meal. Can highly recommend.

Has anyone taken kids to this pub and are they welcome?

We revisited this pub after a 30 year absence abroad. Good food and lots of choices. Non-smoking area to eat but fills up quickly. I plan to visit England again this year and will plan a meal at this pub.

Bar is on the smoking side which has bad extraction so gets fuggy. Nooks & Crannies with 3 open fires in different areas and the purposely homey feel with odd furniture make this a decent chain pub. Can't vouch for food but changing guest beers add interest. Low or no piped music allows conversation. Staff very friendly & helpful.
