Firstly yes it was the Magpie and Stump.
I always liked the layout of this pub with the curved bar and cosy atmosphere.
Unfortunately very dominated by the 20something crowd nowadays.

Was in yesterday late afternoon (Bank Holiday Monday) and it was just horrid - two barmaids who really didn't have a clue, the place could do with a clean, they hadn't switched the toilet lights on - I saw a couple of people have to go and ask for them to do it - at 4pm! I mean I wouldn't have liked to seen the state of floor. Desperately wants to be in Hoxton - such a shame as I remember it ten years ago as somewhere you actually wanted to have a drink. There are plenty of other pubs in area ... avoid.

Went here yesterday and aside from some nice decor, it's awful.

Really poor service - the bar staff have no idea who should be served first - each round took about twenty minutes to get in... I really wish that was an exaggeration!

There are so many friendlier, cheaper and better pubs on Church St. Avoid.

Does anyone know if this was once the 'Magpie and Stump' ?

Used to drink in the M&S in Stoke Newington and cannot find it.
