p.s. Why aren't the Dog and Duck; Moulders Arms and the Molescroft Inn not listed under Beverley pubs? They are all in the 2011 Goood Beer Guide and the Dog and Duck is certainly worth a mention - it has a good range of beers a very pleasant interior and does good value Sunday lunches (other meals available during the week) It also does B&B and is very handy for the Saturday Market. The other two should also be listed so perhaps somebody from Beverley needs to submit an entry? mcroyal - 29 Aug 2011 11:03
I always thought that Nicholsons was a London pub chain but it looks as though they have branched out a bit! They had an IPA festival on when we visited so we tried a few - two were excellent and one not so hot. This is a long thin pub right in the market place and an excellent spot for watching the world go buy (especially on Saturday when the market comes to town). Food always available; service was fine with coffee being available for the girls. It's a long walk (you might need a compass and some hiking boots) from the front bay window to the loos! Outside seating and smoking area and a "modernised" traditional feel to this old pub. Definitely worth a visit if only for the beer range. mcroyal - 29 Aug 2011 10:46
A Nicholson's house. No fewer than five real ales on tap on a midweek lunchtime. I had a very good glass of St. Peter's Mild for £2.80. Very friendly bar staff. There are at least a dozen lager/chilled beer taps as well but I didn't note whether or not each of these was in use with a different product. The food looks good, but I had already visited an excellent fish & chip shop (The Pisces) two minutes' walk away on Lairgate so I didn't get to sample the food here. 10 minutes' walk from Beverley railway station. apchilcott - 10 Jun 2011 16:29
Had a quick afternoon pint in here after a visit to the Minster. The pub offers a good selection of hand pump ales and the interior of the pub was pleasant enough. My only criticism would be that it seemed a tad on the expensive side (£7.40, I think it was, for two pints and two packs of peanuts). beermann - 1 Jun 2011 19:13
A warm welcome is what we got on this weekday around lunch time. And as expected there were only around half a dozen people in at the time but as the pub is so long there was not a problem finding a seat and there were plenty to choose from. There were i think seven real ales and as i could not make my mind up the bar man pulled me a few samples while he got my Wife's cider.[First time i have not had to ask if i could taste one or two]After all i opted for Tetley cask but could have had any of the other two i had sampled as they were refreshing enough. The Tetley was just at the right temperature and held it's head down the glass. I had Cumberland sausage with mash and parsnips the Wife had a plough mans and both were very nice. It's a pub one could stay in all night with the range of different drinks on offer and the friendly bar staff. Very recommended westminster - 14 Jul 2010 18:56
