You're right, mtaylor, it is there! I couldn't believe it, so I just went and checked, and there it is in the 2012 edition. Why indeed? The only beer I've tried there was almost undrinkable. Perhaps we've both just been unlucky - but I suspect not....

Very quiet on a Sunday night, reflected in warmish Harveys and a complete lack of atmosphere. No idea what the food is like, but looked more Brewers Fayre than the smart Kent restaurant I'd expected. Why is it in the Beer Guide ?

I thought I would give this a try. Food acceptable and well priced. The beer was awful. My advice would be to drive past next time and turn left down to the Padwell for a classic pub lunch or The Snail if you are feeling flush, or go to the Old House on Redwell Lane Igtham as it always has superb beer. I will not be back

The only way to get here is to drive, as it's on A25 in middle of no-where, but once there the beer was good and a couple of decent ales to choose from.

Visited this Pub 29th Oct 2010 as meeting place for lunch with view to having carvery. The service, and atmosphere in the bar prior to going to the restaurant area was excellent. The choice of 3 ales was great and well kept. The food and service at the carvery were outstanding. Highly recommended.
