If I had more time I would spend it in this pub. Really great beer and cider. We both loved it. And what is more it has that increasingly rare quality of being conducive to conversation and making new friends. pxk99 - 7 Jan 2010 20:47
This is the Worcester CAMRA pub of the year for 2009 and rightly so. You enter into a hallway with a few steps up to the bar (watch these when leaving after a few). The bar is right in front of you and there are two fairly small cosy rooms to the left and right both with real fires. Both rooms are full of bric-a-brac and a right old mix of stools, chairs and settles. There’s also a patio out the back where lots of people were drinking even though it was pretty cold it’s also where the gents toilets are. On both our visits the pub was also full of an eclectic mix of people as well, all very friendly. When we went in on the second night we were greeted like long time friends by the landlord and staff. The landlord was telling everyone who came to the bar his “jokes”. It’s an original way of keeping the bar clear for people who want to get served!! 6 handpumps selling Hobson’s Mild & Bitter, 3 changing guests and a real cider. All the pints I had (and I had quite a few over 2 nights) were in excellent condition. It’s a cracking little pub and a must visit if in Worcester. ROBCamra - 17 Nov 2009 14:48
Great pub. Good beer choice, well kept and keenly priced. In my limited experience of Worcester, the best real ale pub there. SPB - 1 Nov 2009 18:32
A good pub with plenty of atmosphere. The Malvern Hills Brewery's Black Pear is fantastic, and the outdoor area is very good considering the pub is next to a main road. Be prepared to meet interesting (!) people there, but most are completely harmless!! tom202 - 20 Jul 2009 00:22
Just a quick review as I'd had beer-a-plenty in Hereford before stopping off here for a swift one in between trains. Old-skool multi-roomed interior, good beer (including the Hobson's Mild, yum) and a large whiskey list (see photo). I remember that the sandwiches had a ludicrous mark-up (£3 or similar) which seemed a bit much. Beer was ace though so will be back for a more sober judgement. Quinno - 4 Mar 2009 17:38
