Sadly I had been living in the town for a year before I found this gem. Simple pub, no music, No machines friendly staff, papers and a good range of beer, and guest beers. Also a wheat beer erdinger on tap beautiful drop.

can get a bit crowded on Friday and Saturday nights

Food is snacks and is not really worth writing about - But they let you bring your own they will give you a plate, knife and fork condiments as well.

the perfect local pub

This is a total gem of a real ale haven. A blue print of how 'it should be done'. Even had Dark Star on my visit. Wish this was my local..

Bright, bareboarded, street corner pub. Just a little way out of town (as in not visible from the church/Edinburgh Woollen Mill part of East St.). It is undoubetdly the best pub in the town, if a little 'clinical'. The Mauldons brews plus a couple of guest ales are on offer. The Mauldon Suffolk Pride and their Blackberry Porter were both excellent. If you like proper ale then it's your only real option in the town.

Superb! Had a pint of Monks Gold from the Tring brewery. Well, 3 to be exact! Great selection of ales, nice relaxed but bubbly atmosphere. Highly recommended...

Lived upto all expectations. Tried Mole Trap & Silver Adder from the extensive Mauldon's range available - both excellent.
Also Cain's Dragon Heart & Milestone's Sherwood Stag.
The Pork Pies looked excellent & it was a joy to be able to play Bar Billiards again ( Yes I know I dont get out much !).
Can't wait to make a return visit
