beer garden is beautiful in the summer and that is about the only positive this place has to offer. if you are looking to go somewhere for a meal, look elsewhere. other comments are right - service is terrible. kitchen cant cope, quality of food is poor considering the prices they charge. great for a sunny sunday afternoon sitting in the beer garden as long as you have someone else willing to go to the bar and wait 10 mins to be served a couple of beers! shame, as has so much potential and fails to deliver, big time londonloon - 8 May 2012 11:26
We visited for lunch yesterday and had booked a table at 12:30pm. We arrived early and were shown to a table in an attractive area of the pub, drinks order taken quickly so all looked promising...it quickly went downhill from there. We asked to order food and I asked for a burger, I expected to be asked how I'd like it cooked so after I wasn't I asked if I could have it medium...only to be told they only cook their burgers 'Well done'. When I asked why I was told it is company policy...strange that policy is to spoil the food and not give the customer a choice. Anyway, we ordered starters and main courses and food for the kids. After fifty minutes of waiting for starters and kids food we asked how long it would be. We were told another twenty minutes because they were busy. So after an hour and fifteen minutes they finally arrived and the quality was distinctly average (especially considering the premium this place charges). We then waited a further thirty minutes for main courses to arrive and again the quality was poor. I don't know what they are trying to do with this pub but it seems like they are not capable of coping with the number of food orders they are taking. The place is huge and I'm guessing the kitchen just can't cope...I would advise they limit the number of covers they offer for food as the quality of it is suffering and judging by the number of people waiting it just isn't working. Service is shocking and food quality is poor. Add to this being surrounded by a large, loud table of families with kids names like Sahara and you have one of the worst pubs I've ever had the misfortune to visit...Never again. robfar1 - 23 Apr 2012 11:03
The reviews on here did make me chuckle. I used to frequent this pub - great location, great garden - utterly dreadful service - seems things haven't changed which is a real shame. Globus71 - 22 Dec 2011 14:23
Great location!! It looks so much better than it is. Extortionate prices and slow poor service let it down. It's not a patch on it's sister pub -The Bull and Bush in Golders Green Westendsocialite - 25 Nov 2011 05:47
This large pub lies very close to Hampstead Heath. On entering you pass through the front garden area which has plenty of tables and chairs From the main door the bar is opposite you. There are again plenty of tables, comfortable chairs, armcahirs and sofas situated all around the bar area. To the right there is a large dining area which is in 2 sections. Behind that there is a magnificent large landscaped garden expanse with also plenty of tables and chairs. This pub is now a gastro bar which would work very well if there was enough staff to attend to the diners and drinkers. The food is reasonable and well priced for the neighbourhood. The beer and ale selection are average. and the service is slow but very polite and friendly. The very well kept toilets are downstairs. A good mix of people visit and there seems to be a high proportion of women on some occasions. A good place to relax and added bonus if you like to sit outside. You would be happy to take your mates, girlfriend or even granny. As with many gastro bars the service is slow due to food orders and staff shortages.. The Freemasons is very clean, bright and well maintained. and worth a visit . Cricklewood.draft - 9 Nov 2011 11:55
