I can't understand why anyone would like this pub. It's rough - be careful whose eye you catch, if it is male they might want to get into a fight with you, it it is female expect a scowl or a rude remark. The service is dreadful - possibly the worst pub in Headingley. At both bars, the staff always pick on people they don't like the look of and refuse to serve them or leave them waiting around. The sad regulars always come first. Short changing is common. The atmosphere downstairs is slightly better than upstairs which is like a tacky 90s wine bar. The green is full of annoying students.

Always start in here after work on fridays, use the back of the downstairs bar to get served quickest. Has started selling bottled beer outside now to save you queuing inside. Dont bother with the food, just drink and enjoy the atmosphere, staff are friendly if you are!

No better place to be in the long evenings of summer, yes there are tons of otley runners but the beer garden is so huge you can easily avoid them. Also does a very good quiz in the oak room upstairs.

This pub is the best, especially on warm summer evenings. Good mixture of students and locals. Most of the bar staff are the nicest, friendliest, heavy drinking people in the country. Don't listen to the guy who says they are rude, he's clearly an idiot.

Admitally no real ale - if you want this then Arcadia down the road is your best bet.

I've seen people climbing over the 8 foot garden wall to get into this place during the warmer months (and so avoid the bouncers...) I can't see that it's really worth it and the place seems to be a haven for Otley Runners and p*ssed up students.

Avoid (if you're looking for Real Ale and somewhere relaxing to be)
