Still the best pub in CSG, a landlord who knows his beer and how to keep it, 3 real ales, great atmosphere, interesting interior and what a real pub should be.

Popped in for a pitstop while walking from Amersham to Chalfont St Giles and back. Couldn't have picked a better place. Only wish we had more time. All you hope for in a small village pub. Found landlord friendly enough and had quite a chat with him. Didn't sample food but seemed popular and smelt lovely

This is a really excellent quiet local with very well kept beer and proper home cooked food and I mean actually cooked on the premises and not cooked elsewhere and then bussed in so that it can be microwaved and described as 'home-cooked'. It has a sensible policy on mobile phones after all nobody really want to hear about your hernia do they ? Good old fashioned service rather than insincere servility and all the better for it. A proper village local.

I agree with riverstar that the landlord's attitude is somewhat disappointing; on a recent visit, there was no attempt by him to find out why the food order for three was taking over an hour. That said, when it did arrive the quality of the food cooked by his wife remains first class (as does the beer), with friendly bar service from the daughter of the house.

A pub favoured by locals.
