Has now been taken back and managed by Greene King. Now doing good deals on food, curry night, entertainment, a lovely looking Sunday Roast for 8.99. Still going to take a while to get the atmosphere going again but on the whole a pub back on the up.

I've had mixed experiences here. Once upon a long time ago it was a cosy local great for a quiet pint which was the incarnation that I liked best. Then it turned into an expensive food pub that I found relatively unfriendly by which I mean that a couple of times when I stopped for a pint after work ( a couple of years ago now) the bar was full of golf club types acting like it was their club house. I was almost tempted to stay and play a few rounds of 'bait terry scott' but sadly had to dash. I did eat there on a later date and thought the food was competent but overpriced given the quality of the service. I haven't been since the new ownership (2009) and wish them well but a relative who has thought the comments above still apply. I was interested to see the comments about the very expensive lease which generally is the kiss of death for a pub and while I'm on my soapbox why aren't we guarding local pubs as the national treasures that they are.

I was disappointed to see the last two comments about this pub/restaurant. I have eaten there on serveral occassions and always find the food to be fantastic and the service excellent. On all visits the restaurant has been busy so keep up the good work. Both myself and my boyfriend will be back.

All recent reports confirm what whitto says, alas.

i'm afraid i have a gloomy prediction for this place. It has changed hands recently. Tina Turner played on a loop for 2 hours, clip art menus and no food yet. The previous owner (scott) and team had an excellent eye for detail which is so important. I heard that it changed hands for the most money ever paid for a Greene King Lease. Give it a few months and i predict it'll be on the market again for much much less. Please, please prove me wrong. Don't let it go.
