| Ive been going to the golden lion for about 6 months now since i moved here at the end of last summer. It is a lovely pub with friendly locals. They have a lovely new barmaid whois very nice and you always get service with a smile. lots of local history all over the walls great atmosphere good pint or bombardier on offer. Fair pricing and an all round good place to go for a quiet drink or to soak up some traditional pub atmosphere. They have a quirky 50's diner out the back which serves a lovely roast dinner on sundays I go in there a lot and the food and service are always good. I'd say avoid sunday evenings though unless you like quizzes as the teams seem to fill the pub at 8. | Been in here a couple of times now and really enjoyed it. The beer was in good condition and the contrary to what is reported below the staff were very friendly. The local history and military memorabilia only add to the experience. Recommended. Old_Caterhamian - 18 Aug 2010 12:48 |
| The good people of Caterham breathed a sigh of relief when the horrible rude and obnoxious family that ran the Clifton for years, decided to close the doors, but that happiness was short lived, as they're back in abundance as new landlords of the Golden Lion. Expect to be barred for coughing, or questioning the beer, or the food. I can't think there are worse landlords anywhere else in the UK.
