| I cannot believe that this pub has been closed down after a drugs bust. A pub which had become a "crime generator" in Hanwell has been closed down after 40g of cocaine were found on the premises in a raid. The Old Bill public house in Copley Close was shut down by police last Thursday following a raid on March 24 where officers found the Class A drugs, as well as a large amount of other paraphernalia. The pub had been under investigation since December following the arrest of a barman who worked at the who was linked with drugs activity in and around the pub. On March 20 he was sentenced to three years in prison for possession of 177.5g of cocaine with intent to supply which had an estimated street value of £18,000. The Chief Inspector of Ealing police said: "Over the last couple of years the quality of life and daily routines of the residents in Copley Close has been disrupted by anti-social behaviour and drugs activities directly linked with the Old Bill public house. "This was clearly recognized by the courts as they took little deliberation in granting the closure order. anonymous - 17 May 2006 14:03 |
