Visited this pub recently for a late lunch after a round of golf. I ordered a pint of Doombar which was not up to the usual standard for this beer but just about drinkable. I also ordered the jumbo cod from the bar menu. The next pint I tried was Spitfire which tasted like vinegar and was sent back, so instead I had Bombadier which again was drinkable but certainly not 100%. The barmaid said she would take the real ales off until they were sampled by the Manager. The pub was not that busy but I had a very long wait for the jumbo cod which when it eventually arrived was a complete disappointment. This was a relatively small piece of frozen battered fish and not the large fresh battered cod I had expected. Whilst waiting for the food I picked up the vinegar bottle and noticed sediment floating in the bottle reminiscent of a lava lamp. This was changed immediately once I pointed out the problem. The Manager then sampled all the real ales and promptly put them all back on! Needless to say I will never be going to this place again.

Can't comment on the food as didn't eat there but the people eating looked happy enough. Nice pint of Doom Bar in the garden with some Spring sunshine. Could do with another ale of tap perhaps but a pleasant experience on my visit.

Seems to still be a food place serving beer rather than a pub but recent visit , service good and polite

What positive comments? I think there is one from 3 years ago.
Has there been a management/staff change?
I have to say it is dreadful service, avoid at all costs.
Which is a shame as it's a lovely old building and setting.
