This is my new local and it is fantastic. Great beer, great locals: what more could I want?

One of the best pints of Gales HSB in the south, always immaculate. Good honest pub (very few of these about nowadays). Starting point for the Eagles (Hook) on Wassail night, long may it continue

I don't say this is the best pub in Hampshire but it's got to be in the top 5!

This is everything an English village pub should be. First, top quality well-kept real ales with regular guest beers on tap. Secondly, freshly made pub grub not poncey gastro boil-in-the-bag soup in a basket. Thirdly, warm welcoming atmosphere, bare boards in the public, log fire (real) in the snug. Fourth, professional bar staff who know their trade and serve a proper pint with style and chat not some halfwit Eastern European who is being bedded by the manager. Fifth, a pretty little back garden for those who are addicted to the weed. Sixth on the High Street yet just around the corner from the oldest cricket ground in the world (and free parking if you can squeeze in)

Typical old english pub with a great atmosphere, very good staff (particularly Simon) and excellent, well priced pub food.
Make sure you park in the long stay car park as there are 2 hour restrictions on the road bays and that might not be long enough to enjoy your visit.
