Food second rate with first rate prices, caters for the affluent obese clients who turn up in flashy vehicles, toilets were filthy, beer was ok though.. I shall be giving my money to other landords in future.. omicky1 - 20 Dec 2011 19:21
Much improved since last visit. The old carpets gone and it's back to sanded wood floors and seats. Good atmosphere, top quality beer, never seen the grimacing old men tho, everybody always seems pretty friendly whenever I go there. Don't know what the reviewer below was on about. I can't think of a better pub in Pulborough. But then there are only 2. RintysMate - 7 Oct 2011 10:39
Awful awful miserable place. I don't know how they keep serving, except that the food is so overpriced and baldy cooked. The ONLY good thing to come to this place for, is in the summer, if the garden is quiet you can get a spot at the top and view the downs AND the burger menu. We always end up here however, don't know why. Christmas - log fire, Summer - sun in the beer garden, Out of term time - livelier crowd. General price for a meal for two and a bottle of wine is £50. No-where to sit, grimacing men at the bar all the time not letting you get a drink. There are far better pubs in Pulborough wingman - 23 Feb 2011 17:33
Pub definitely gone downhill recently. Bit dirty, seats ripped and food pretty poor. Beers Ok though. RintysMate - 26 Apr 2010 13:11
| We had stopped going here about 18mths ago because the food was so variable but tried again yesterday. On a positive note we received a very warm, friendly welcome. The beer was very well kept. However the meals were appalling. We had two badly undercooked Dover Soles and one scampi with chips that,in our view, had probably been cooked in fat/oil that should have been changed some while ago. We like crunchy vegetables but the broccoli was almost raw. I suspect that many of the items on the menu would probably be fine however I doubt (at least yesterday) they had the expertise to cook Dover Sole...in which case why sell it! On complaining the only response was "I'll tell the chef". We removed the service charge from the bill (on the basis 'service' should include correct cooking!). We will not return!
